Happy Friday! How are all you lovely BALKers doing? It is busy here in Seattle and downtown is flooded with tourists for Seafair (don't ask me what that is because I do not know).
Let's get this round up started:
First, Al Pastor continues our weekly theme of early women in cinema by sharing with us the story of Takako Irie, the Queen of Early Japanese Cinema. Definitely check her out.
Yours truly closed out the Thursday workday by celebrating Rosalind Russel and some images of the perfect movie Auntie Mame with an open thread.
Our lovely Owl Is Lost helped BKT out by taking on the task of doing a Round Up and asking for some help from our members, including some tips of what we are looking for in a round up.
She also reminded us that she is taking a break for a bit, and there will be some back-up mods to help out if there are any problems. Stop by to say hello to her. But don't worry, she will still be around this weekend. We will miss you Owl!
The awesome Madam Puddifoot (I call her Puddingfoot in my head, but I am also a weirdo) shared with us some possibly NSFW images of sexy peaches in China wearing some revealing lingerie. Not for the faint of heart.
Need a little fun this evening? Please head over to Snack's post asking "What Silent Film Star Are You?" The results may surprise you.
Next, a famous film star came back from the dead and replied to BKT's official Twitter account. Was she a ghost? A zombie? Who can say!
intherain shared with us a poem about being swept away in a dark and exciting cinema.
Our Midnight Movie series (side note: Madam PF is awesome and always shares the best movies with us) was inspired by the Takako Irie post and made one of her films our MM experience. She also did a massive round up of our weekly theme.
I started blathering about my favorite show The Killing. Don't worry, if you haven't seen it everything is spoiler free.
Josie Grosie shared with us some images of famous actors in famous artwork. You need to see them.
Clio delve down into the depths of Kinja and found a prophecy from 1969.
Al Pastor shared some of Bette Davis' late night talk show appearances. They don't make dames like that anymore.
wyominghippie did an awesome send up of becoming a Kinja Kardashian superstar (mocking the most mockable woman and blogging system ever- and that is the nicest thing I will ever type about KK or K)
Owl Is Lost got our morning started right with another awesome sunrise photo. Go savor it because we won't get many more for a while.
Ahem. I had a crisis regarding The Killing (are you watching The Killing? No? Start now.)
We had a visit from some early morning furry friends, with one of the cutest GIFs of a tiger evar.
Moar early morning furry friends, this time from Snack's adorable kitty cat (she likes cherries but please don't give her any). Do you have a cat close by? Will you pet it for me? My BF is allergic so I doubt I will ever be able to have another cat in my life :-(
EastToMidwest has got the internet dump thread you need in your life. Want to read some interesting links? Head to the comments now. Have a link you want to dump? Leave it in the comments there!
We like to have fun here on BKT, but this is also an awesome place if you want to post something serious or thought provoking. Snacktastic asks us what a community does for us. Please go check it out.
Sherman Alexie knows what's what with that asshole Richard Dawkins (he's an asshole.)
One of our favorite Friday posts, Time Out With Clio, is here. Clio is in the middle of a big move and shares with us a story of a graduation party, second chances, and the hell of moving. It is so much more than that, so please go read it.
Awesomesauce RedWriter shared something with us I cannot describe. You need to see it for yourself.
nothip has a bunch of interesting links for anyone interested in being a writer/is a writer (even if you don't want to be/are a writer the stuff is still a good read/watch)
I'm A Little Teapot wrote an excellent long-read about women in today's television and her thoughts on watching.
Love or hate them (looking at you, Nic Cage) we have a weekly theme here on BKT. Do you have some ideas on what you would like to see as a theme? Snacks wants to hear them!
When you start to like a celebrity to you begin to seek out their work? intherain shares some of her faves and would love to see yours.
Wow. This (my first ever) round up was harder than I expected, but it was fun going over posts that I might of only glanced at. I will be doing a big one Sunday evening for the weekend round up, and asking if anyone would like to do a few next week when Owl takes her break. We are trying to do this daily so if anyone would like to help out let me know then.
