We’re halfway through this shitty week. On zero sleep for a couple days now it was definitely like walking through a colourless world in a daze today. How’s it going with you?

On top of everything else that’s been going on I spent much of the last 24 hours thinking about August Ames. It’s been a year now since she killed herself. One of the things her husband feared was that she’d be forgotten, and I was sad to see that as much as people were excited to exploit her death for clicks then, there’s been essentially no mention of her a year on. Jon Ronson and Lina Misitzis are releasing a follow up to their Audible/Podcast series, The Butterfly Effect, that’s about her life a month from now, but that’s about it. Other than that it’s just been this statement from her husband a month later, which I recommend reading, and several months after that Rolling Stone followed up with him and how her death (and those of Shyla Stylez, Olivia Nova, Yurizan Beltran, and Olivia Lua around the same time) were affecting the industry. She was, by every account I’ve read, a true friend and one of the warmest and loving people you could ever hope to meet despite dealing with a history of depression.
