Getting the best of you.
Getting the best of you.

Well, if you don't already know I kinda effed up my original idea for the recaps. It has been decided I should get drunk and leave bullet sentences about what goes down. I am not drunk, but I am drinking and it is getting late so let's try to finish episode one. Spoilers, duh (season four with season three spoilers)

The cork board with all the dead Pied Piper girls has been wheeled into Holder and Linden's office. Hey, Bullet *sob* Hey, Callie. I am still wondering where you are. Are you dead? Will we ever find out?

There is a new case. A family has been gunned down. They got a fancy house on a beach or lake, and everything inside is white. We get hints of red from blood spatter and various shots of dead people's feet. The six year old daughter was shot in the face. There was an older sister murdered. The parents were shot in their bed. The only gun found belongs to the dad. The stings on the grand piano were cut up.

Ohhhh, the only suspect is the son. He shot himself in the head. He is alive and at the hospital.

Sup, Joan Allen? You are doing some fancy ballroom dancing with a "hunky" man. A boy in a military uniform tells you there is an emergency.

The detectives are waiting at the hospital. No more coffee for Linden. Holder says so.

Weird looking goth girl turned away by uniform police men.

Here comes Joan Allen (in a military uniform) flanked by a bunch of teenage boys in uniform. "Kyle is incapable of violence," Joan says. She is the superintendent of the military academy he attends. She has known Kyle's father for at least twenty years.

"Do you need to sit down, Miss?" "It is Colonel Margaret Rayne."

Authority pissing match.

Kyle is still out of it. Nobody can speak with him. Doctor's orders!

Ahh shit. The photo of the car following Adrian has been blown up. Should the partial plate be run? Linden shuts it down because Adrian has been found. More cover ups.

Love hearing f bombs (thanks Netflix!)

Holder knows Linden was banging Skinner.

Annnnd Holder's girlfriend is pregnant. (my boyfriend always gets excited when he sees her because she was on Firefly, a show I still haven't watched). He later crawls into bed with her, holds her, and asks her to marry him. She says yes.

The two bullet casings are on Linden's dinning room table. Dump that shit, girl.

She rips everything off her bed (it is where she and Skinner banged) and sobs into a pillow, falling asleep with the light on. She wakes up looking like hell.

Holder is pounding on her door in the morning.

Ballistics are back. Two guns were used in the bloodbath. The cops cannot find the other gun.

Was Kyle's suicide staged? Did someone else do this?

Kyle is awake. NASTY scar on the back of his skull. Terrible black eye makeup. Linden does a brief interview. His memory is fuzzy. He hasn't been home since Christmas. He doesn't know what happened to his family. "Call you tell Nadine [his youngest, shot in the face and very dead sister] that I'm ok?" he pleads.

A doctor confirms he has retrograde amnesia.

Morning inspections at military school. Joan Allen looks over all the young men.

Here come the detectives. Joan is pissed they asked him some questions. They tell her an officer is stationed near his room in case the person who murdered his family comes back to finish the job.

I've seen the entire fourth season, but I love the banter Linden and Colonel Rayne have throughout. Two extremely strong female leads going at it is great.

As the detectives are inspecting Kyle's room Holder notices a jerk boy sneaking off to smoke. Jerk boy doesn't care about the murders and calls Kyle a loser. Holder flicks a lit cigarette butt at his face and walks away.

His parents' will his read to Kyle. Joan Allen is his legal guardian. He turns 18 in a three months. Kyle will receive the $50 million dollar estate when he turns 35, with no financial support until then, even for college. Joany is concerned. After Kyle tells the colonel to leave she walks back to his hospital bed to see Kyle turned away sobbing, and his hospital gown open with his back exposed. There are lots of scars on his back, many seem fresh.

Linden visits Kyle in the hospital again; he is being released. They discuss East Of Eden and the land of nod/the tree of life.

Kyle is adamant he would never hurt his family and he is not a monster. The last thing he remembers is family day at the academy. Then he woke up in the hospital.

Sunset at Kyle's house. The divers that have been looking for the second gun haven't found it. Linden admits to Holder she shot a dying cow at the beginning of season three. Another connection if they ever find Skinner's body (where is his body?) Holder tells her to get rid of the gun and shell casings AGAIN and Linden promises to do it.

And here we go. Linden goes inside the house to visit the murder scene at night. She turns on all the lights and slowly walks through the house, and we finally get to see the blood bath. So much red. She realizes that when the lights are turned on at night anyone can see in the (mostly) glass house.

Is someone watching her?

Linden returns home and only one shell casing is on the table.

Someone is furiously knocking on her door. It is Skinner's daughter. She knows Linden hiding him (girl, even though you don't know, you are still wearing a dead girl's ring that your daddy raped and murdered. Linden sees it. It is what tipped Linden off that he was the Pied Piper) and screams for her dad to come to the door. Linden crawls onto the stairs and END CREDITS.
