I’ll just leave these here
And I’ll let these gentlemen point out what they’ve observed about this repeated (and repeated and repeated) phenomenon that’s been made most obviously manifest with MSM pundits and Democratic leadership … in part because my brain is still a bit scrambled to see the latter two picking up on GOP “whataboutist” propagandistic tactics, picked up direct from the FSB in Russia (just give yourself a minute for that one) to bash those who represent the most marginalized among us – in, I might add, the face of clear corruption and possible criminality in Israeli leadership – when she says something they think they don’t like, even when they aren’t quite sure they understand what she meant and they don’t even realize where they got their assumptions from:
This is how implicit bias wrecks democracy (one of the ways – and one of the most effective ways - anyway).
And not only does it seem to be almost working, but the people who are supposed to be “objective”, and the people “on our side” (that is, the side of #WeThePeople, and not corporate kleptocracy, just to be clear) don’t appear to see how they’re enabling that and they don’t even appear to be willing to examine their own unstated assumptions, let alone their motives, before reflexively going on the attack amongst their own Caucus.
One more time before the “butbutbut she apologized”S roll in: It’s not that progressive Democrats should never be criticized. It’s that their actions are demonized and their (possible) wrongdoing magnified and hyper-scrutinized, and their achievements against multiples of the odds minimized and disappeared, while the ongoing and flagrantly bigoted acts of white men (and women), usually GOPers, are almost never scrutinized or reported by the MSM or censured by even Democratic leadership, let alone actually punished.
When was the last time you heard something about Cindy Hyde Smith once she was seated? While she voted against ending the last federal shutdown and for lifting sanctions on Oleg Deripaska?
Didn’t “we” — those of us who saw & declared the extent to which such racist & sexist bashing and asymmetrical coverage actively contributed to the degradation and literal downgrading of our democracy — emphatically declare we were not going to do this again? What happened to that??
Hey, Tim Ryan — where’s that call for censure you said you were going to make for this act? What happened to that??
And I thought Ralph Northam’s assist with #RevisionistHistory from his unnamed, probably white, probably male “historian” was the most racist thing I’d see today.
Day isn’t over yet, I guess.
One more time for the people in the back, emphasis on “exploitation of racism”
