Welcome back to Backtalk’s read harder challenge, in which we attempt to expand our horizons by reading books from 24 different categories. Check out the original post on Bookriot for the full list of categories, and check out our previous posts if you’re looking for more inspiration.
There are only a few months left to complete the challenges. I am right on pace with about 5 categories left to complete, and a pretty good idea of books to read for each category. How about you?
Last month I readThe Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian by Sherman Alexie, which was a lot of fun and a good coming-of-age story. I’m currently partway through The Gone Away World by Nick Harkaway, which was recommended to me by Quasi Hatrack, Dr. Emilio Lizardo, and a few other O-Deckers. The basic plot involves a fire threatening to destroy the known world and a group of truckers sent to put it out (with high explosives). Oh, and there are also, among other things: monster dogs, ninjas, and wizened kung fu masters. And it’s much smarter than it sounds.
Let me know what you’ve been reading!
