So we’re finally here... not that I guess it matters anymore if you’re not going anywhere... or shouldn’t be at least. I still have plenty of work to do today. What’s up with you?
Today’s the first day we’re getting first run movies available to rent on VOD early. I already saw and mostly liked the new version of The Invisible Man. There’s yet another adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma that’s supposed to be good. And that class warfare thing everyone was so uptight about, The Hunt, that was finally coming to theaters just in time for them to all close is here too, along with a few others.
If you need something to lift your spirits then I would suggest Maria Bamford’s new standup special Weakness is the Brand. It’s her best material since the stuff she did for Ask Me About My New God/The Special Special Special (two formats...basically the same content.) I didn’t like it quite as much as that, but that was also one of the best specials of all time and up there with Chris Rock’s Bring the Pain. Her last Netflix one was too gimicky and unfocused for me, but this is still outstanding. If you’re a fan then you won’t regret the $5 to rent it.
Very excited she’s back:
