was it 3rd or 4th grade?
i invited all the girls to my half-birthday party (as my bday fell in one of those no-school times on our district calendar). so there i was, right around this time of the year, passing out invitations. i invited tami and julie and susie and courtney and jenny a. and jenny d. and amy and tiffany and taryn and margareta and wait...hold up! i invited taryn but she didn't invite me. to hers. going on on the same weekend.
that ever happen to anyone else?
i felt pretty defeated. now, never have i been a social superstar. i usually find a niche and stick with it. i think taryn was in the other class for my grade, but i liked her, wanted to be her friend... i don't think this was a "you have to invite everyone" party or anything.
le sigh. there were a few emo moments on my part, but my friends rallied around me. we made it an awesome party. we hung out on the hammock, did talent shows, swam, and watched movies - probably something starring hayley mills. since i was the youngest of four, my parents pretty much knew all the ingredients to a successful sleepover, and everyone had fun, and ate custom-made pancakes in the morning.
i had some pretty cool unbirthdays.
