Need some suggestions or have ideas to share with the class?

Here’s just a handful. I’ve got some for another post later in the week, and I’m sure there’ll be even more by then. A reminder that while many library systems are already closed most have online resources for you to access books, music, movies, audiobooks, etc... Check your local library website, and I’m sure one of our resident librarians can help out with that. Plus, of course there’s Netflix, Hulu, Prime, etc... so you can finally binge those series you always wanted to. You can knock out both seasons of the amazing Fleabag in a single night like I did on Prime, or finally get into Mr Robot. AcornTV and Britbox both offer a shitload of UK TV and movies for very modest prices. The PlutoTV, Crackle, and Tubi apps offer thousands of TV shows and movies if you don’t mind some commercials. And then there’s the billions of hours of YouTube instructional videos, movies, and general weirdness.

You could also use the time to take some classes online in thousands of subjects for free (fees involved if you want certifications usually) from hundreds of universities from around the world through sites like Coursera, Udacity, EdX, and others. There’s also all sorts of sites to learn how to code from. Or if you have kids or just want brush up any number of topics from when you were in school there’s always Khan Academy. I’d have killed for that site when I was a kid. It’s wonderful.

Here’s a few things to get you started. Share your own in the comments, and if I can actually see Kinja comments this week, I’ll throw them in the next one of these.

AND FINALLY.....

I know I mentioned it in the morning Open Thread, but since I LOVE it as much as I do, I’m going to include it again as something you should definitely look into..... if you have Prime, until the end of the month you can watch a few Showtime shows for free including the first season of Kidding, which was my absolute favourite show of 2018. Whole thing takes less than 5 hours. It’s dark but super sweet, funny, and moving (you’ll cry). It’s perfect if you’re feeling alone or lonely. I’m not usually much of a Jim Carey fan when he’s doing comic stuff, but he’s fantastic in dramatic roles like he is here (which is still funny thought) and supported by an incredible cast including Catherine Keener, Judy Greer, and Frank Langella. It also reteams him with Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind director Michel Gondry who does some fucking BRILLIANT visual work here. The title sequences alone are works of art. And to top it all off it features an out of left field batshit crazy performance by Tara Lipinski of all people.
