Hi, long time no see! The last couple of months have been busy, and somehow I closed my Backtalk page in the name of productivity, and forgot to come back. I’m the introvert who is finally doing teh political organizing stuff.

I went to the local Women’s March. It was nice, but the question is what to do next. I need to say nice things to my representatives in Congress because they consistently take positions I agree with before I’ve had a chance to hear about the issue.

Post-election, I signed up for Our Revolution, the group that spun out of Bernie Sanders’ campaign, but all they’ve done for months is ask me for money. I also signed up for icanhelpyouwiththat.org, for skills-based volunteering, because *cracks knuckles* I don’t have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, skills I have acquired over a very long short career. But they might have too many volunteers and not enough agencies requesting help?

So today, I signed up to volunteer for the Justice Democrats, which is trying to be the progressive version of the Tea Party. More concretely, I’m looking into organizing a DataRescue event. I can organize stuff. I am good at networking. I am very good at tracking and finding people to do the thing, whatever the thing is, though I’ve not done it in a political setting before.

What are you up to? If you have suggestions about where to volunteer stuff like data organizing and logistics skills (honed from years of organizing conferences!), let me know.
